Knee pain
Knee Pain is usually caused by acute injury or degeneration. Sports such as running, climbing, cycling and jumping put a lot of pressures on the knees. The joints become vulnerable to such pressure while workouts. Knee pain easily gets worsened with prolonged exercises as there is no time for a full recovery. This could eventually develop into chronic pain. On the other hand, elderly people may experience pain and stiffness around their knees. The common cause of this is the degeneration of the cartilage underneath the kneecap (i.e. osteoarthritis).
Acupuncture can help to relieve pain and improve kinetic movements by stimulating Xuehai (SP-10), Liangqiu (ST-34), Xiyan (EM42). Massaging these acupoints at home may also prevent knee pain.
